Welcome to 4MB - 2018

Welcome to 4MB! What an exciting start to the year as everyone settled in with the new routines. Happy Birthday to Dexter and Harper who celebrated their birthdays in January.

These are the exciting activities we did in class in our first week in Year 4.

English –

·       Wrote a recount about our holidays

·       Learned Kungfu punctuation to practise placing punctuation in the correct place in a sentence.

·       THRASSed out our names

·       Learned some comprehension strategies to highlight keywords when reading

Maths –

·       Applied place value to order, write and read numbers up to five digits

·       Played a fun elimination game of ‘Numbers Ladder’ where we had to order numbers on a ladder until you no longer can place a number on a step

Science –

·       Learned that atoms and molecules move faster as something heats up and slows down as something cools down

·       Tested the temperature of warm water and measured how long it will take for warm water to cool down to room temperature

Health –

·       Made some real goal settings for all the different subject areas and some goals settings for home

·       Came up with our own growth mindset mottos to help us persevere
