Week 6, Term 3 4MB Activities

Dear Parents,
We've had an exciting this week in all our subjects. Here we are practising our questioning skills by playing the questioning game. Each partner could only ask questions to each other without answering them! It was a fun game.



We were focussing on a persuasive text this week in English. We worked on some persuasive techniques to help us with our writing. Here are some examples of the persuasive techniques we learned in class:

Repetition by Amelie: We must do our homework! We must do it now! We must get smarter!
Simile by Archie: Homework is as annoying as a buzzing fly.
Triplet by Harrison: Homework is disgusting, dreadful and horrible.
Call to action by Harper P: Quickly make your dog eat your homework then you don't have to do it again!
Rhetorical question by Damon: Who likes homework?

We had an author visit from Martin Chatterton. Here is Arne sitting patiently while Martin carefully illustrated him. The audience had a great laugh!



Emma was selected from the audience to win a book signed by the author. Congratulations Emma!

Premiers Reading Challenge - closing soon!

Dear Parents

The Premiers Reading Challenge closes by the end of day on Friday! 

Students need to complete entry of books on their Student Reading Record (SRR) by the 31st of August to be eligible for the award of a certification of their efforts.

Book Week 2018 is finally here!

Join in the fun 'me hearties' and come and listen to a book taster reading at lunch time in the Hub, Flexi Room or Stretch Zone.

Bring your Treasure Map and get it stamped for each visit for a chance to win treasure at the end of the week!

Dear Parents,
Congratulations to the students who performed at the IPSHA Festival on Wednesday night. It was an outstanding performance and it was pleasing to see the excitement in their faces leading up to the concert.



Here are some photos of our activities this week.

In Science we looked at our soil that we brought in. We took note of all the different particles they found in their soil.



Here are some photos of us learning some AFL skills.


Earlier this week we practiced our punctuation and grammar by playing noughts and crosses with our sentence writing. They had to write a sentence with a connective (either at the beginning or in the middle of their sentence) with correct punctuation in order to put a nought or cross on their paper. Here they are with their partners.

Science week activities - encourage your children to take part

All students - test your inner scientist this week and join in the Daily Science quiz, or try your hand in construction and engineering opportunities in Makerspace on Monday!

Daily quizzes - listen to the questions at assembly and write your answer on a slip of paper, add your name and class, and post it in the box near the FlexiRoom.
