500 Word Writing Competition

So you love to read books by your favourite authors?  

Think you could come up with an awesome story too?

THEN THIS IS THE COMPETITION FOR YOU! 

Ask your parents first!!!!

THE CHALLENGE: Use your awesome storytelling skills to create a 500-word short story of your own.

There are three categories:

7 - 8 YEARS

9-10 YEARS

11-12 YEARS

PRIZING UP FOR GRABS: The winner in each category will receive signed copies of their mentors' books and a personalised congratulatory video also from their mentor.

The winning story in each category will be turned into a physical book for you to keep (ten copies per winner).

​

Each winning story will be published in ‘Just Kidding’ magazine alongside an interview with the author.

​

Let your imagination run free and write about something you like. Remember your story can be about absolutely anything you like.
The only criteria is to keep your story to under 500 words in total. If you think your story should include illustrations, you can send them in too.

Dyslexie font

Dear Parents,
I wonder if you've noticed that some of the work coming home from school is printed in a different font.  This font is called Dyslexie font and is designed for people with dyslexia to make reading, learning and working easier.  
Every letter is uniquely shaped and increases the ease of reading for people with dyslexia.
It was designed by a Dutch dyslexic student who felt it helped him to read more easily.
We've installed it on our computers for everyone to use - it's very subtly different.

Week 8 Activities in 4MB

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the term. He we are using our noticing muscle to play a game of 'I Spy' in Maths this week. They were looking for cash amounts around the classroom. They had to add up the total and work out the change when paid by a higher note value.



We look forward to seeing you at our Learning Festival on Friday 22 June! The class will be performing a musical item at assembly. We will then showcase what we've been learning back in our classroom.

Term 2 Week 5 Learning Activities in 4MB

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that we will be having our Learning Festival on Friday 22 June. Please mark this important date in your calendar! The Learning Festival will take place from 8:30 with a performance in Assembly and finish at approximately 10 am. We look forward to seeing you there!

Here are some photos of some activities we did last week. We focused on narratives last week. Here we are working on writing sizzling starts to help us with the beginning paragraph of a narrative. The class was given a brief description about what the story was about and they had one minute to write the most interesting sizzling start!



In Science, we are continuing our experiment with colour and heat and whether coloured affect the speed at which heat is transferred. The class came up with their own experiments. Here they are testing out their experiment!


In Maths last week we focused on Area. We first estimated the area of the courts. We then took our trundle wheel and metre ruler to measure the actual area of the courts.
